Buachaille Etive Mhor, Glencoe
The name of the mountain in the background is "The Big Shepherd" and the cottage in the foreground is called "The Black Rock Cottage", which sits nestled in Glen Etive surrounded by the forbidding mountains of Glen Coe.

The infamous events of 1692, namely the Glen Coe Massacre of the Clan Donald is usually why the area is considered atmospheric. I personally believe that long before this tragic event the area was believed to have an ethereal quality about it.
