Inchmahome Priory Inchmahome Priory housed an Augustinian Order, The Black Canons, is on an island in the Lake of Menteith, near Aberfoyle in The Trossachs and was founded in 1238 by the 4th Earl of Menteith.
The name "Inchmahome" comes from Innis MoCholmaig, meaning Island of St Colmaig.
Both Robert I and II visited the Priory and Mary Queen of Scots was sent here for safe keeping when she was 4 years old.
