Salen Ardnamurchan Salen is small village with a harbour at the neck of Ardnamurchan on Loch Sunart. It is recorded in 1292 the King of Scots, John Balliol, gave Ardnamurchan to Iain, the youngest son of Angus Mhor of Islay. Most likely a formality considering that Angus Mhor of Clan Donald was King of the Isles. Mingary Castle nearby remained the stronghold of the MacIains of Ardnamurchan for 400 years. |
